Minute books, stock inventories and partnership agreements of the companies that over the course of the 20th century merged to create Advest Group, Inc., a Hartford-based financial services company. The earlier companies were Six Central Row Co., Central Trading and Investing Co., Putnam & Co. (William Putnam was the principal), Putnam, Coffin & Burr, Doolittle & Co., Newburger & Co., and Sartorius & Co. The minute books also contain articles of incorporation or partnership, by-laws, and some copies of correspondence. The collection also includes William Putnam's records as treasurer of the Connecticut delegation to the Republican National Conventions in 1932 and 1936, and of the Republican Ways & Means Committee, 1936. Also financial records of the United States Army Air Corp Exercises reception committee, 1931. The record book of Middlesex Corporation of Colchester, Conn., for the purpose of farming and conducting hunting and fishing preserves in town, is also part of this collection.
